Absolutely! My son doesn't necessarily like classes where it may help him learn a skill that he needs, but he feels like it is "school" and kills his interest. In situations like that, I will ask what do you think you need to help you with this? It could be something as easy as just sitting down with him while he searches for tutorials on youtube. It really depends on the resource, and it depends on the project itself, and it can often also depend on the age of the kid. If you try a couple of different resources within the same type of skill/project, and your son is still pushing back, that is when I would stop and say "is this something you need help with, or do you want to instead let me know what you are doing with this project on your own?" Sometimes, they just want to take the wheel themselves, and then come to you when they are struggling. Or it may not be a really strong interest. It is a balancing act! My son has my rebel nature (if you have read Gretchen Rubin's 4 Tendencies), so often when things are suggested to him, he immediately loses interest. We have a system now where he will email me or ask me for a specific thing, and I will find it for him.

I haven't read that specific book, but I have read some of his others. They are really great! The only reason I haven't read it is because I haven't found a copy at the library. Thank you for suggesting it 😊 And welcome!

If you are in Maine, absolutely! The entire system has been down all summer for all libraries that participate. It has been a bit of a nightmare 😩 I'm not sure if other states are also having issues.

@@Townsendhouse1 We are in Maryland, but have only been here since the pandemic, so I'm not used to all the systems yet. Pemaquid Point is my favorite place in the world--I wish we were in Maine! I hope they get yours up and running soon.

Yes! The holiday stickers come with the Teacher Planner, they are printed in all the other EC planners. But the Teacher Planner is completely blank.

I do have space above my cabinets! I never think to put anything there because I am woefully short - meaning I can barely reach the second shelf of our cupboards. I do have a step stool ladder though, so maybe I should store some stuff up there. Thank you for mentioning that!

An accordion file folder is a great idea! I got these little baskets on Amazon a few years ago for some Christmas presents, but I had an extra one. This seemed to be the best use for it!

We homeschool, so we are able to start whenever we want. We consider ourselves year-round homeschoolers, and choose to do school at different parts of the year. We also take a big chunk of time off in December for the holidays. I know that some public schools start early because of the weather, if it is too hot for kids to be outside playing, they end up doing school during the hot months, and are out in the nicer months. People that start that early tend to be done with the year at the beginning of May rather than mid-June.

Honestly it depends on the month. This month it was just like I shared in my video - I start with my personal and family command center calendars, move onto homeschool planning and my kids' daily habit trackers, then focus on my notebooks which are my book journal and my goals. I usually try to get my tending list done for the next month as well, but sometimes that bleeds into the weekend depending on how much I am considering when it comes to my goals for the next month. I like to revisit my brain dump notebook and see if there are any projects on the lists that I can move over to concrete dates, or if there are things that I need to spend more time thinking about. I essentially go through all of my planners, take some time to consider what is most important in the month ahead, wrap my head around any appointments and activities we have scheduled, look at the resources we will be working through in our homeschool in the month ahead, chat with the kids about anything they may need for passion projects, new learning, new books I may want to read etc. And then a lot of journaling, and sitting to consider things that I have put on my brain dump lists that I now can focus on. Absolutely! Although I might have to go back to my old way of planning weather - m-w on Sunday when I set up my week, and then Th-Sun on Wednesday because our weather changes so often in Maine it is hard to have an accurate week 🤣🤦🏼‍♀

Not usually. If I needed a reminder to remind them to actually do the chores, I would put something like "chore check-in." That is because I have a calendar on my fridge that tells the kids exactly what they should be doing, so I have already put in the work to plan out which chores are done when and don't need to do that again. It could also be helpful to have a time when everyone does their chores together, like a home management block in your day. It doesn't have to be long, it could be 15 minutes, but having that dedicated time built into a routine would be helpful if you are transferring more chores to your kids.
